Have you encountered anyone who objects to Christmas and the Reason for it?
Among my friends, atheist, agnostic, jewish, gay, buddist, democrat, green, etc., none of them object to Christmas and have Christmas Trees.
Maybe the PC dissenters of Christmas are afraid Santa doesn’t leave anything under a holiday tree, so hide their objection?

We both know who would first come to mind! Can you imagine having such a sour spirit that a greeting of Joy, like Merry Christmas, would be received with such rancor? Maybe it’s just that the Christ of Christmas was replaced with an x.

I can only guess that some substitute Christmas to be Politically Correct.
Those of US who use Christmas generally aren’t inclined to care about PC horseradish.

When I was a kid, I understood “Happy Holidays” to be a way to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, even Happy Hanukkah all in one phrase. Back then, it was a quick way to cover it all, not to deny Christmas.
But that was many years ago when noone could possibly conceive of Christmas being offensive. Now, a small minority of atheists have guilted enough people into being afraid of offending them, and groups like the ACLU have legally intimidated and bullied towns and businesses into not openly acknowledging Christmas, and Christ, during the season. It’s a study in a minority group manipulating the majority into denying who they are, and what their culture is.

I appreciate your perspective. I shudder when reflecting on memories when I thought it inconceivable that anything to do with Christianity, including Christmas, was able to fall in the realm of persecution in our United States. That was beyond my innocent, ignorant conception. Truth is, for several years now we have been railroaded to believe Political Correct balderdash that Christmas is offensive. And we, US, are at a juncture that the building blocks of the United States of America are forfeit to the insidious, malevolent machinations of… horseradish, in the guise of Political Correctness and its dressings.
I ain’t ready to give in, and it sounds like you aren’t either! Please stay posted to my other blog that is political, I’d like your input.
It is MERRY CHRISTMAS, for now and as long as we have the Freedom of Speech to say so!

I don’t think the actions of people like that are uniquely Atheist. I’m Atheist. I don’t care if other people are different religions. I actually find it all really interesting. People like that are universal, for any subject that could possibly be turned into a debate.

It’s common in America for people to join in the celebration of the birthday of their family and friends, even when not on the actual day, and even when everyone has different days of birth.

The beauty of US is that if we don’t like something we can speak against it before we turn it off, whether it’s “traditional” festivities or our government.
In past centuries a decorated tree has symbolized different things for different reasons, from spring to summer and fall to winter, and the festivities always, well, festive. Still is. But some just like to be Scrooge in a sea of reason to celebrate!
You can hate Christmas, doesn’t bother me. You can call a Christmas tree whatever you wish. It’s still a Christmas tree!
